Palace Pool Overlooked

Buckingham Palace gardeners are planting new trees in a long-term plan to stop office workers watching the Queen swimming in her pool A towering 28-storey skyscraper is being built near the Palace, and from only half-way up there is an uninterrupted view of the pool, some of the State rooms, and the lawns.
The Royal Family often relax in the privacy of both the pool and lawns. In consultation with the Ministry of Works, the gardeners are now planting dozens of trees as a screen against the curious.
The trees to be planted Indian horse chestnut, have heavy leafing, but they are slow growers only one foot a year. It is estimated that it will take something like 30 years before the.v reach their full height of about 35 feet—and fulltleaf.
