Nelson Escaper Caught
(From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, Feb 12.
Peter Myers, aged 20, who escaped from Nelson gaol on Friday night, was recaptured by the police today at 9.35 a.m. near the municipal baths. Collingwood street He was recognised from his pub-
lished picture by a private citizen who immediately notified the police. Myers is believed to have spent the week-end in the Stoke area, subsisting on peaches. It is not definitely known how he escaped, but police believe he may have climbed from an open door and squeezed through the iron grill which forms the roof of the exercise yard. Myers, of Lower Hutt, was awaiting transfer to a Borstal institution after being convicted on burglary charges. He will appear in the Nelson Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
