PATCHWORK FOR U.S.

Racing Series At Yonkers (N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Feb. 12. The New Zealand pacer. Patchwork, a seven-year-old bay mare owned by Mr P. A Watson, of Methven, will go to the United States in June to race at Yonkers Raceway. She will compete in a pacing series comprising three races with a total of £B5 000 prize money. This was announced tn Sydney today by the president of Yonkers (Mr M Tananbaum), who was in New Zealand las: week. Patchwork will be trained on the trip by Mr Watson's son. M. A. Watson, who will accompany her to America towards the end of April. Mr Tananbaum said his efforts to get another New Zealand horse, Sun Chief, for Yonkers, had failed, because the owner was in rllhealith and. for that reason, did not want to go to America. Sun Chief probably would be booked for the 1963 series, he added. Mr Tananbaum and his party will go to Perth on Sunday for the InterDominion Championships, and hope to secure two Aus-| traWan pacers to accompany .Patchwork to the United States.
