Delegates to the second annual conference of the School Music Association, held recently in Nelson, resolved to urge the Education Department to press for the early appointment of senior music advisers in all education board areas, and for the early appointment of itinerant music specialists to help in developing music in primary schools. The delegates decided the time had come for a complete review of teacher training in music for both primary and post-primary schools. They also decided to urge the Education Department to revise the present regulations concerning part-time instrumental teachers so the timetabling of lessons, number of pupils a class and rates of pay would be the same in both primary and post-prim-ary schools.
