Higher Standards Sought
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Feb. 11.
The New Zealand Swimming Pool Superintendents' Association. which has pledged itself to set a higher standard of pool administration and to circulate the latest ideas on pool control and treatment among its members, came officially into being during the national swimming championships at the Naenae Olympic Pool last week. At the inaugural meeting of the association. 20 pool superintendents were in attendance end an interim chairman (Mr G. H. David. Dunedin) and an interim secretary-treasurer <Mr L. Christian, Wanganui) were appointed.
A sub-committee consisting of these two men and Mr S. B Mason (Christchurch) was formed to draw up adraft constitution and to make arrangements for the first annual meeting, to be held at New Plymouth in July. Mr David, who was instrumental in forming the association, described the attendance at the inaugural meeting as “most gratifying” There were at least 20 other pool superintendents who were fully behind the movement but who were unable to leave their pools at this time of the year, he said. Nothing but good could come from the formation of the association. said Mr David. Councils and the public would benefit greatly through the aims of the association being put into practice.
Car Rolls Over.—When a car rolled over on the Main South road at Bankside, late on Saturday evening, Mr Trevor Yeatman. of 32 Neill street, Hornby, suffered head injuries. He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital.
