Auriette moved up slightly to trail Trim Laddie and Waitaha into the straight. The most prominent of the others then were Cattle. Plain Fox and Advance General. Auriette reached the front without much effort and won by a length and threequarters from Trim Laddie, which beat Waitaha by a length and a half. Advance General was fourth, and then came Cattle, Waitoa, Double Roll, Gay Duchess, Baloo. Tabess, and Fair Symbol. Red Trap was at the rear.
