Women’s Cricket COMPETITION GAMES

Two Centuries On Saturdav Centuries by J. Lowe (Beckenham) and P. Moore (Technical) were highlight* of Saturday’s play in the Canterbury Women's Cricket Association's competition. St. Albans 111 beat Mai Moa on the first innings as did Technical over Western and St Albans I drew with st. Albans 11. Scores were:— St. Albans I v. St. Albans II St. Albans I gave an Improved display and was able to declare at 148 for three. Top scorer was P. Bladder w-ho made a splendid 30. while C. Dallard and K. Wilkinson were not out with 23 and 21. St. Albans II opened confidently with A. Matins batting extremely well for her I’B and J D.ckinson scoring a r.ap.d 47 before she was brilliantly caught and bowled by Wilkinson At stumps the side was four down for 118. Blackier again bowled steadily and well to take four for 40. Mai Moa v. St. Albans HI Batting first Mai Moa was unworried by the medium pave attack but when the spinners were brought on. the scoring rate dropped and wickets fell. L. Motz. who has been most consistent this season, again top scored with 25 not out. The most successful bowler was J. Cockle who took three for seven. St. Albani had little trouble in passing Mai Moa s score of 94 and at stumps had lost three tor 127. The openers. A. Colville and J. Stead, made 46 not out and 40. Technical V. Western A dominating Innings by P. Moore of 134 not out was the highlight of the game. O. Williams. too. batted briskly for 42. to give Technical the final total of 209 for seven. Another feature of the innings was the splendid fielding of M. Campbell. B. Moore was the most successful bowler with three for 79. Western could manage only 74 in reply, of which E. Woods made 22 The Technical bowling was not es accurate as usual and it was more through bad bating than good bowling that Western made such a poor showing. Moore completed her fine day by capturing tour wickets for 23.
