BANKS PENINSULA GAMES
The Banks Peninsula Cricket Sub-association's competition continued on Saturday after a spell of two weeks. The two leading teams, Little River and Le Bons. were beaten and this now leaves the competition very open. With only four games to play, Little River has 76 points, Le Bons and United 74 and Kaituna 72. Akaroa gained its first win of the season when it beat Wainui. Scores:—

Mclntosh 37, C. McKay 58, P. Johnston 17, C. Grigg 36, L Ford 29 not out; N. Allen three for 49, E Allen two for 51, E. Turner three for 54) on the first innings. Akaroa 194 (J. Carrodus 69. P. Haley 72. P. Ferguson 32; R. Weir four for 65, G. Perry two for 12, H. Swallow two for 16) beat Wainui 170 (D. McGinnes 22. D. McPhail 65, B. Donovan 23 not out; P. Haley two for 34. J. Carrodus four for 57, D. Masefield three for 39) on the first innings. United 189 for five (I. Craw 33, R. Harris 18. Paul Haglund 70, Peter Haglund 33, H. Marshall 16: K. Howarth three for 46) beat Little River 163 (K Howarth 70, M. Barclay 21, P. Hutchison 34; Peter Haglund five for 57, R. Harris five for 57) on the first innings.
