MARCHING TEAMS AT NELSON
Cham pionshi ps Decided (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, Feb. 11. Twenty-three marching teams today competed in the annual Nelson championships at Trafalgar park Four first prizes went to visiting Christchurch teams. In the midgets’ class. Cains, leader Miss P. Kirkwood, won the open display for visitors. In the juniors’ class, Cairns, leader Miss L. Gregory, won the open display. In the seniors’ class. Pepsi Cola, leader Miss S Biggs, won the visitors’ display and the Howson cup and medals. Also in the seniors’ class Metropolitan won the visitors’ display medal. The champions were Nelson and the runners-up Glengowan of Waimea. These teams will compete at Christchurch on March 3. The chief judge was Mrs N. Mangos, other judges were Messrs N. Schwass, W. J. Hall, Mesdames A. West. H. Day. M Ching. V. Hood, M. Ware. S. Reid, P. Bowater, A. Sturroch, Misses D. Gardiner, M. Shea and P. Goodall.
