Basketball Pavilion
'THE Canterbury Women'* 1 Basketball Association is optimistic that the new pavilion under construction at Hagley Park will be completed early in April for the beginning of the new season. The building will be almost three times the size of the old pavilion, and will cost £6OOO. It win have dressing rooms for both the players and the referees, a main hall for social activities, a large canteen, and an office. The new pavilion is expected to
cater for about 6000 players in a week. It is situated near the courts at South Hagley park entrance than the old pavilion.
The Christchurch City Council has given a grant of £5OO and ha* lent the association £l5OO toward* the cost of the building.
The association ha* said it had hoped to receive a grant from the Minister of Internal Affairs, but this now appear* unlikely.
