Record To Norris
In a week when P. G. Snell was breaking New Zealand and world records, the feat of D. S. Norris at the Olympic Stadium in Auckland went virtually unnoticed. Norris broke W. B. Hough’s 13-year-old New Zealand long jump record of 24ft 4in, by one inch, during the triangular representative athletics fixture among Auckland, Waikato and Northland on Saturday. Norris had equalled the record during the Agfa meeting at Eden Park previously. He now appears certain of a place in the New Zealand team for the Empire Games at Perth.
