Fined For Refusing To Pay Fare
Charged with refusing to pay his fare from Wellington to Lyttelton aboard the Maori, James Robert Punton, a workman, aged 34, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton, before Messrs J. B. Collett and L. J. Shuker, Justices of the Peace. Punton, who said that he had lost his duplicate ticket, was fined £2 and ordered to pay the fare.
