LEAD-BURNERS’ WAGES UP
The minimum weekly wage is increased by 8s in a new award issued by the Arbitration Court for lead-burning and chemical plumbers’ workers in the Canterbury. Northern Taranaki. Wellington. Otago, and Southland industrial districts. The award, which operates from November 21, 1961. to May 29. 1963. increases the minimum weekly wage to £l6 3s. A new clause says that any time worked in excess of four hours and a half without time being allowed for a meal shall be paid for! at double-time rates.
