TREK FROM DROUGHT

Cattle Off To New Pastures

(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 4. Hawke's Bay farmers have begun moving their cattle from drought-stricken areas to rented pastures in other areas.

More than 1000 cattle have already been moved and several more thousands will be moved within the next few days Ln one of the biggest cattle treks ever made in New Zealand.

Mr A. M. McNeill, provincial president of Hawke’s Bay Federated Farmers, said today that Hawke’s Bay farmers had been considerably heartened by the response to the appeal for pastures made last week; He said some areas of Hawke’s Bay had been relieved by heavy rain, but there were still districts where the drought was serious.

Mr McNeill led a deputation of Hawke’s Bay farmers which last week visited Hamilton, Te Kuiti, Te Awamutu, Taumarunui, Taura nga, and Rotorua.
