Shoe Store Service In Birmingham
Nylon stockings are now sold in an automatic vending machine in the doorway of a Birmingham shoe store in England. The machine’s capacity is 140 pairs of stockings and it is fitted with a coin accumulator that will accept any combination of sixpences, shillings and 2s pieces to make up the purchase price of a pair of nylons. Stockings in this machine cost 4s a pair for seamfree nylons and 5s if they are fully fashioned. The machine is stocked with five sizes of seamfree and five sizes of fullyfashioned hose. Emphasis is on choice of size rather than selection of colour. The vending machine is mounted on a permanent castor base, and padlocked into position.
Many women, who are hard on stockings, use the machine three times a week.
