Results of the first round of the Ellesmere P. V. Bailey Memorial Cup cricket matches played on Saturday were:— Dunsandel 207 for seven wickets declared (I. Chamberlain 48, P. Buckenham 45, W. Scott 35, M. Frampton 31; T. Anderson two for 32, J. Meyer two for 40) drew with Weedons 177 for three wickets (J. Meyer 98, P Aitken 43, T. Watson 14, T. Anderson 13 not out; I Chamberlain tw’o for 19). Leeston 233 for four wickets declared (M. Fleming 59. P. Chamberlain 51, B. Free 47, M Chamberlain 64 not out; M. McLaughlin four for 69) beat Lindin 89 (A. Campbell 20, M. McLaughlin 18; B. Free seven for 33) on the first innings. Bumham defaulted to Irwell Southbridge a bye.
