Glacier Sails From McMurdo Sound

In the next six weeks the little-known coast of Marie Byrd Land, in Antarctica, will be explored by sea and air. The United States Navy icebreaker Glacier set off eastwards from McMurdo Sound on Sunday on its task. Throughout its voyage the Glacier wiU conduct radar Photography erf the coastline and collect hydrographic informetton. Continuous depth soundings will be taken, and frequent halts will be made to gather more detailed data on Antarctic waters.
