An 18-year-old boilermaker, Denis William Rakena, of Rapaki, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday to throwing a pie at a car driven by Dr P. A. M. Heath, of Lyttelton.

The doctor was driving on the main road from Lyttelton to Governor's Bay when the pie spattered over his windscreen and blocked his view. The car swerved dangerously and nearly went off the road.
