QUOTATIONS IN CHRISTCHURCH
Shipments Of N.Z. Wool
New Zealand wool entered for shipment in August last year totalled 109,232 bales, compared with 111,721 bales in the same month of 1960 Because of heavier July shipments, however, the total for the two months ended August. 1961. was 38.384 bales (16 3 per cent.) higher at '273.963 bales than in the same two month® of 1960 In the later period the European Economic Community countries and Japan took considerably more wool than in the same two months of 1960. Britain and the United States also bought more New Zealand wool. Details of shipments tn the two month® ended August last year are as follows: E.E.C., 89.889 bales, or 36.5 per cent of the total (compared with 31.9 per cent in 1960>: U.K.. 76.375 bales or 27.9 per cent. (29.6 per cent.); USA. 54,432 bales or 19 9 per cent (21.9 per cent): Japan 23,987 bales or 8 8 per cent. (4.9 per cent.); Communist countries 8000 bale* or 2.9 per cent. (5.9 per cent.); other 11.280 bales or 4.1 per cent (5.8 per cent); total, 273,963 bales (235,579 bales).
