MELBOURNE, January 17
An incendiariat lit a blaze at Governmc .t House, Melbou...e, early today directly beneath the rooms in which th* Governor (Sir Dallas Brooks) and his wife were asleep
A tour-door automatic sedan car parked nearby was wrecked by flames which blistered the white paintwork of the historic building T e car is one used by Government house officials.
The well-plarmed attempt to burn the building was made soon after 3 a.m., while about 25 person? were asleep inside W’thm minutes of the alarm being given, all 20 of th-' permanent staff at Government House were fighting tl a flames, and brigades arrived soon after.
The flames were quickly extinguished bu* the sedan seared the walls of the building and burned to the axles
