WIGRAM RACE DRIVERS
Reception Given At Takahe Overseas and New Zealand racing drivers visiting Christchurch for the Lady Wigram Trophy race on Saturday attended a reception last evening held in their honour by the Motor Racing Club at the Sign of the Takahe. The function was an informal one. Its main purpose was to allow the drivers and officials to get to know each other. Almost all the drivers attended, and there were representatives from car and racing clubs. from the R N.Z.A F. station Wigram. and from various sections of the motor trade. The president of the Motor Racing Club (Mr J. A Brewer) briefly welcomed the visitors and thanked those who were assisting w’ith the organisation and running of events. J Brabham, replying on behalf of the drivers, said: "We have all brought our rubber suits and snorkels, but we hope we won't have to use them,’’ he said. “After the last two meeting I think most of us have developed webbed feet.”
