Ballot Next Week (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 17, The ballot to determine the persons liable for service under the National Military Service Act will be drawn on Tuesday next. Mr K. W. Fraser, Dominion president of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association, will make the draw. “In the ballot a certain number of birthday dates occurring in the year in which persons liable to register were born, will be drawn,’’ the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) said today. “Those whose birth dates as recorded in their applications for registration corres. pond to the dates drawn will be the persons required to perform service.’’ In a final warning to those who have not yet applied for registration Mr Shand said: "If they don’t register by January 23, they are liable for service whether or not their birth dates are drawn in the ballot.”

The persons required to register are those born in the year July 1, 1941, to June 30, 1942. Persons in this age group who registered under the National Service Registration Act, 1958. are required to register again under this act.
