Made Voyage In Shaft Tunnel
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 17. A fine of £lO. costs 30s. was the penalty imposed on Anthony Frederick John Williams, aged 23. a cook, when he appeared for sentence in the Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of stowing away on board the Wanganella from Sydney to Wellington
Mr R. D Jamieson, S M., said he did not intend to make a deportation order because of the unusual circumstances He also took into account "the type of accommodation’’ Williams had occupied during the voyage
The police file showed Williams had secreted himself in the ship's propellor shafl tunnel
