Mrs Crone Beats Mrs Ross (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Jan. 17. Play on the fourth day of the North Island croquet championship at New Plymouth on Saturday was postponed until the afternoon, when the greens at West End Croquet Club had dried out sufficiently after heavy morning rain. In the first round of the open championships Mrs V. Crone (New Plymouth) scored a convincing win over her Auckland opponent, Mrs Z. Ross, 26-2. Results:— Women’s Championship—First life: Mrs S. Morgan (Eltham) 26, Mrs W. Crone (New Plymouth) 10. Second life: Mrs W Stevenson (Auckland) 26. Mrs H. Jordan (New Plymouth) 14. Level Singles.—First life: Mrs F. Morris (Eltham) 26. Mrs M W. Elliott (Auckland) 23. Second life: Miss W. Gibbs (Nelson) 26. Mrs M. Aagard (Inglewood) 23. Open Championships.—First round: Mrs Jordan 26. Mrs S. Flavell (Fielding) 14; Mrs E. V. Tlngey (New Plymouth) 26. Miss Elliott 22. Mrs Morgan 26, Mrs G. Peploe (New Plymouth) 20: Mrs Crone beat Mrs Rosa. 26-9, 26-2.
