My Share Too Good

“The Press” Sptciat Strvict DUNEDIN, Jan. 7. My Share was the outstanding pacer at Kurow on Saturday. The Bums Night five-year-old- won both the Waitaki Trot and the TI. J. Delargy Trot Handicaps decisively by a length and a half. He was second favourite in the first event, paying £8 8s 6d. but when rehandieapped 48 yards for the second event he was neglected in the betting and paid £l4 Ils Od. Trained at Ashburton by A. C, Aymes for Mrs S. and Mr J. Withell, he was driven R. J. Jones. Wee Mike, which finished second to Lordship in the Champion Stakes at Ashburton, was the hot favourite on each occassion. In the H. J. Delargy Handicap he carried 1264 tickets 'on the win machine, compared with 428 on the second favourite, Tivoli. In this event he appeared to have had enough when he broke near the furlong when asked for a final effort and he faded to fourth. My Share was not extended to win in the Waitaki Trot Handicap after being well placed throughout. It was his first show of form in four starts this season. Half the field lost their chances at the start. My Share followed Artillery, Torella and Direct Terms in the early running. Took Charge Direct Term* took charge outside the furlong but was soon challenged by Wee Sheba, which , appeared to have the race won when My Share arrived on the scene and wore her down to win going away by a length and a half. Bonniebum ran on for third a length back. Direct Terms was beaten off five lengths back, ahead, of Wee Mike. Artillery, Rolex, Torella, My Lawyer, Blonde Piper and Sentimental Lass. My Share recorded an attractive performance to win the H, J. Delargy Trot Handicap. He soon made up his rehandicap of 48 yards to follow Torella, My Lawyer, Fairy Herald. Winabob, Tivoli and Wee Mike with a mile to run. Tivoli took over the running at the halfmile.

Tivoli still had charge at the furlong, where Wee Mike broke under pressure. My Share and Bonniebum drew out, with My Share doing best to win by a length and a half. •

Tivoli was six lengths back third, shadihg Wee Mike by a neck, ahead of Tharleaffe, Winabob. Grandora, , which lost ground at the start, Rolex, Idle Jack, Westwood Ho and Damaris. The latter, with Dawn Hanover and Colonade, was slow away.
