Courtaulds To Reject Bid
< N Z jr^.-Reutor—Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 6. Courtaulds, the giant British textile firm, is to reject a £lBO million take-over bid from Imperial Chemical Industries, it was learned last night. The bid. the largest in British corporation history, was made just before Christmas. and it would have created the ninth largest firm in the world. It is believed that Courtaulds, the world's largest man-made fibres company, has rejected the bid after re-
ceiving a preliminary report from its financial advisers.
The bid by 1.C.1. was to exchange three of its own shares for every four of Courtaulds, but the offer has not yet gone to Courtaulds shareholders.
