DEVELOPMENTS IN TERYLENE

Wearer—Trials In Britain IBu ZALIA THOMAS}

LONDON, January 3 Wearer trials have recently been concluded on a number of terylene-wool woollenspun fabrics, using the milled finish developed by Imperial Chemical Industries, and as a result cloths in these new fabrics will soon be coming into commercial production. Stringent tests have established that eloths given this new finish will not "puH" which the past terylene-wool woollen-spun fabric* tended to do.

The result of these trials will mean that a completely new range of terylene fabrics will be coming on the market. These cloths will be suitable for coatings and suiting* in heavier weight* than has previously been possible, and with a very soft handle. “Tweedy" effect* can be obtained and other fabric weaves include twills, hopsack* and fancy weave*. The minimum blend for women'* and children’s wear in woollen spun fabrics will be 55 per cent, terylene and 45 per cent, wool, irrespective of th* weight of th* fabric*.
