BEACH CARNIVAL AT GORE BAY
A beach carnival at Gore Bay yesterday attracted one of the biggest crowds seen there for years. An estimated 1000 attended.
Organised by the Cheviot Play Centre, the carnival featured surf-dub demonstrations and junior and senior beauty parades. Two surfboats from New Brighton and one from Taylors Mistake demonstrated racing in the surf. Surf club teams from Christchurch
staged a parade and march past and there were lifesaving demonstrations. It was the first carnival held at the bey for 15 years. With yesterday’s success in mind, surf dubs hope it may become an annual event
