Crowd Of 35,000
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7.
Officials believed that the attendance at the Grand Prix at Ardmore on Saturday, about 35,000, was the lowest on record. However, the president of the Grand Prix Organisation (Mr W. H. Fox), although he could not give the official attendance. said this was not so. He said it was nonsense to say that the event was a financial failure.
“It is not true to say that the attendance was the lowest ever,” he said. “It is financially successful, we know that. No record crowds came because of the rain.” A race executive said on Saturday that the attendance would be no more than 35,C00.
