In Deadlock
(N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Jan. 7. The Federal Senaite election has resulted in a 30-30 deadlock. It was announced yesterday that the Liberal candidate, Mrs R. T. Breen, had defeated the Democratic Labour Party deputy-leader (Senator McManus) for the fifth Victorian seat. The remaining seat in Queensland was won by the Liberal candidate, Mr R. D. Sherrington, who defeated the former Queensland Premier, Mr V. C. Gain. In the case of a 30-30 vote in the Senaite, the vote is decided in the negative.
