First Train From New Yards
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. January 5. The first freight train out of Auckland’s new £1 million Westfield marshalling yards will leave on Sunday night for Frankton. The departure will mark the completion of nearly four years’ construction work. The yards will handle all freight waggons in the Auckland area. Covering about 31 acres, the yards' 16 miles of track can hold about 1900 waggons.
