UNIVERSITY MATCH
Australians At Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 4. An innings of 86 runs in exactly even time by J. Behrent provided the basis of Auckland University’s score of 255 against the touring Australian Universities at Auckland today. In reply, the tourists had scored 87 for four at stumps, and may have to fight tomorrow to retain their unbeaten record. T. H. Lee. however, who made 160 against Manawatu earlier in the week, is still at the crease. Lee cover-drove a superb boundary off E. Chadwick the minute he got to the wicket. Auckland's 255 was compiled in quick time, especially when Behrent. who represented Wellington in the Plunket shield last season, and A. Byrne, were batting together. B. M. Quigley, the fast bowler. was the best of the Australian attack, keeping a length and gaining five for 64. R. A. J. Grant, the leg-spln-ner, suffered at the hands of Behrent, but bowled accurately to take two wickets. The Australians’ 87 runs were scored in only 89 minutes, in spite of the loss of four wickets. Tile match will conclude tomorrow at 4.30 only an hour before the Australians are due to report for their flight home. Scores:—i Scores:— AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY First Innings M. H.
