REGISTRATION OF YOUTHS
Many Still To Enrol
About 450 youths who registered in Canterbury as 18-yenr-olxfe under the National Service Regi* ration Act. 1958, must register as 20-year-o!ids under the National Military Service Act 1961, the aswMant-dte-triot auperir.itendent of the Labour Deoer'.ment in Christchurch (Mr A. B. Tuck) said yesterday. Those affected are those boro between July 1, 1941. and June 30. 1942. Mr Tuck said that it was known that at teas'. 60 of this group had left the district, but there would still be a large number left. So far 1686 youths in the Canterbury district have registered. This number includes 49 who have said that they wish to undergo military training. OHy six Maoris have registered so far.
