Sportsman’s Notebook NICHOLSON TO PLAY IN PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH

The Sydenham left-arm pace bowler. C. R. Nicholson, r.ss been included in the Canterbury cricket team which is to begin its fourth Plunket Shield match, against Otago, tomorrow at Lancaster Park. The match will continue on Monday and Tuesday. Nicholson, who did not play in ‘tie last round of club matches because of a leg injury, has been on the southern tour with the Canterbury B team. His bowling figures in the team’s first three matches were: four for 29 and one for 37 against South Canterbury, • three for 37 and one for IS against North Otago, and six for 42 and none for 5 against Southland. The Old Collegians pace bowtar, J. H. M. Dawson, who played against Wellington, has been relegated to twelfth man. The only other change from the team is that A. G. Duckmanton replaces M. B. Poore. Bowls Tourney Pairs play will continue today in the Dominion bowling tournament, and the singles may also be continued as players become available. Pairs and singles will continue tomorrow, with preference being given to the pairs. The fours will be played from Monday to Thursday of next week, with post-section play on Friday and Saturday. From Monday, January 15. play will continue in all events, with preference for the fours, until all winners are found. * * * Cricket Tour The Canterbury B cricked team will today continue its match against Central Otago, the fourth at its current southern tour.
