South Africa began its scheme for building up a trained army reserve today when the first batch of 2500 youths left for Potchefstroom. in the Transvaal, to start their nine months' national service, “The Times” reported. They are to receive three months basic training at Potchefstroom before being posted to units under permanent force officers. The scheme will be continuous, with 2500 men reporting every three months.
