Postal Hygiene
Sir, —Those charged with the task of protecting our health issue frequent warnings to do (or not to do) many things. During the pre-Christmas card-sending “blitz,” thousands of hardy New Zealanders must have, with the greatest aplomb, absorbed into their systems millions of microbes. In every Post Office countless coins have been passed across the counters and the required postage stamps (gummed side down, naturally!) have travelled over the self-same surface. How many folk bother to use the inadequate number of "water wells” pro-
vided by the authorities? The good old-fashioned spit-and-tongue system is a firm favourite. We laugh at the Yanks and their health consciousness. but stamps issuing from their vending machines are neatly wrapped.— Yours, etc., ITS THE “WOG.” January 4. 1962.
