FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure lies over the North Island. A low pressure trough is moving on to the South Island from the south-west. Forecast:—
West Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerlies, later backing to the west; overcast with periods of rain, heavy at times; temperatures becoming cooler. Outlook: showery.
Marlborough and Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter predominating; partly cloudy with scattered showers developing south of Christchurch late in the day; temperatures mild to warm. Outlook: occasional brief showers.
Nelson.—Moderate northerlies, strong in some exposed places; cloudy with scattered light rain late in the day; temperatures warm. Outlook: some rain.
