Obituary MRS JANE HUNT
The death occurred recently of Mrs Jane Hunt, in her seventy-fourth year. Mrs Hunt graduated as a nurse from Christchurch Hospital in 1914. During the first World War sihe nursed in a Cairo military hospital, and at Codford, Wiltshire, England, military hospital.
At the conclusion of war she returned to New Zealand, when she married, and lived in Eketahuna for two years. She was district nurse there between 1921 and 1923.
The following year Mrs Hunt returned to Christchurch and did midwifery training. She was matron at Malvern Hospital between 1924 and 1926, and at Stratford Hospital between 1926 and 1944.
On her retirement, Mrs Hunt went to Fiji to live. She returned to New Zealand and became sub-matron at Burwood Hospital, holding this position until 1957.
