Rangitikei won the right to challenge Nelson for the Hawke Cup when it beat Wairarapa on the first Innings in its elimination game at Masterton today. The best player was R. Copper who scored 132 in Rangitikel’s first innings and took six wickets for 50 runs in Wairaraoa’s first innings. R. Pulley top scored for Wairarapa with 77 in the home team's second innings.
