FURTHER FIRE AT TINWALD
Fresh Outbreak In County Plantation
A fresh outbreak of Are occurred in the plantation on the Ashburton County Council’s reserve at Tinwald on Tuesday night. Fire almost completely destroyed the plantation last Friday. This time, however, there was no great emergency. Three members of the Ashburton County Are unit and one engine were all that was needed to combat the fresh outbreak. The call came about midnight and when the firemen reached the plantation they found the breeze had fanned smouldering timber into life in a previously unburnt patch of young trees. The fire did not get out of control however. Within 10 minutes it had been extinguished, but the firemen remained on the site for nearly two hours thoroughly checking the area.
