Ancient City
The remains of a great city which straddled "the inland sea road” from Egypt to Damascus have been discovered on the northern shore* of the Lake of Galilee, says the "Daily Telegraph’s” Haifa correspondent. The city was first built at the end of King David’s reign or at the beginning of King Solomon’*. An archaeological team discovered the site, containing five cities each built and destroyed on the ruins of the preceding one. The most remarkable find was a jar bearing an inscription written in early Hebrew— Phoenecian script, one of very few example* from the ninth century B.C, The city, which has not been identified by name, might well be the site of early Susita.—(London, January 3.)
