TUESDAY (Before Messrs W. A. Calwell and S. D. Birch, Justices of the Peace.) DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR Frank Henry Williams, aged 18, and Tukotahi Crofts, aged 19, both freezing workers, were each fined £2 when they pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly behaviour at Kaiapoi on Saturday. Sergeant B. D. Read said that a traffic officer had taken the keys of the rental car that Crofts was driving. Both accused argued with the traffic officer and made threats against the police. Crofts, from the dock, said he had had three or four drinks and they must have gone to his head. ASSAULT CHARGE Appearing on a charge of assaulting a taxi-driver in Cathedral square on Monday, Ruru Lome aged 29. a press hand, pleaded guilty, was fined £5 and ordered to pay £7 restitution for clothing he damaged. For Lome. Mr B. G. Dingwall said the accused had been irate at waiting half-an-hour for a taxi and then having someone walk across the Square and get in the first taxi to arrive. FINED £2 A 38-year-old married woman, Doreen Frances Paviell, was fined £1 on each of two charges, using obscene language and being found drunk in a public place She pleaded guilty to both charges. Sergeant Read said the police were called to the accused's home at 5 am. on Christmas Day and arrested her on the obscene language charge. She was released on bail at noon and at 2.20 p.m. was found drunk. “We will let you down a bit lighter, seeing it is Christmas,” said Mr Calwell from the Bench before imposing the fines. WILFUL DAMAGE A young seaman, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to a charge of wilful damage and was fined £l. Sergeant Read said the accused had throwm stones through the windows of the Christchurch Transport Board s premises in Moorhouse avenue on Sunday evening. FINED £3 Tiduns Koziarski, aged 36, a small goods worker, was fined £ 1 on a charge of being found drunk in a public place on Christmas Day and £2 on a charge of resisting the police. He pleaded guilty to both charges. REMANDED Alexander Harwood aged 43. Robert Gourley, aged 25 and Frederick Charles Powell, aged 43 (Mr B. G Dingwall), jointly charged with warehouse breaking and entering on December 22. were remanded to January 19 They were allowed bail and ordered to report to the police daily. Earl Francis Williams, aged 34. was remanded on bail to December 29 on a charge of driving a car while under the influence of drink or drugs. Jack Grindrod. aged 45 (Mr A. H. Caveil), was remanded m custody to December 29 on a charge of indecent assault on a female. Joseph William Fitzgerald, aged 38. pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting his wife and was remanded on bail to January 15 I
