100, 000 CLUB AT NELSON
New Body Formed To Attract Visitors (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, Dec. 20. The formation of a Nelson 100,000 Club, to replace the holiday carnival organisation, was announced today by the president of the organisation, Mr Nigel Thompson, whose executive now becomes the interim executive of the club. Life membership tickets of the club will be on sale on Boxing Day at 5s each. There is a prize offered for the winner of the lucky ticket—a fortnight’s stav in a modern motel during Christmas, 1962. or the eouivalent in cash. “To fulfil the aims of the club it will be necessary to quadruple the present number of holiday-makers who come here each year,” Mr Thompson said. The principal aims of the dub, apart from the major one of attracting 100.000 visitors each year to Nelson, are to conduct. promote and engage any movement, idea, suggestion or enterprise for the benefit of the province. Mr Thompson added that his executive was relying on the support of the public of Nelson, as well as that of holiday-makers, to buy subscriptions which will enable this varied and complex programme to be carried out.
