Award To Napier Student
Bernard Thomas Tuck, aged 18, a pupil at the Napier Boys' High School, has been awarded the C. H. Upham scholarship for 1961 He will take an engineering degree at the University of Canterbury. Mr Tuck was dux of his schoo’ and head prefect, for the year. He was captain of the school's first XV, a member of the first XI, and regimental sergeant-major for the school cadet corps. He is a son of Mr R. C. Tuck, a teacher at the school. The scholarship fund is administered by a board of trustees who make the award annually only to an outstanding student. The scholarship is for study at either Lincoln College or the University of Canterbury. Students from all over New Zealand were interviewed by the board last evening, when the fifth award of the scholarship was made.
