, fIf.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) TJXfDOX, Dec. 20. The British Government is in favour of switching to decimal coinage, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Selwyn Lloyd) said yesterday. He told the House of Commons that a committee would be set up to investigate not "•whether” but “how” a decimal system could operate. It would advise on the most convenient and practical - form decimal currency might take. “The Government’s view is tbet real advantage would follow from adopting a decimal currency. Mr Lloyd said. “Before reaching a final decision, the Government considers there should be a fullscale investigation into the bert form of decimal currency. the steps by which the change could be brought about, and the cost of the changeover.” he added. “The Government has accordingly decided to see. up a committee of inquiry.”
