GRANT FOR FARMER
Power Line Kills Cows (NZ Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 20 The Waitemata Electric Power Board will compensate a Warkworth farmer. Mr J E Robertson, for the loss in September of four of his cows, although the board is no* legally liable. Th. cows were killed when a power line crossing Mr Robertson’s property was brought down by a neighbour's tree blown over in a storm. The chairman. Mr R. N White. said today the power line on Mr Robertson’s property did not serve him. "Since it was not his tree either, there is good reason why we should accept the moral liability in this case," said Mr White. The board will make an ex-gratia payment of £llO.
