NEW CROWN SOLICITOR
Mr C. M. Roper Appointed (N.Z. Press A ssocia tion) WELLINGTON, Dec. 20. Mr C. M. Roper has been appointed Crown Solicitor at Christchurch, the AttorneyGeneral, Mr Hanan, announced today. He succeeds his senior partner, Mr P. T. Mahon, who has resigned to practise as a barrister. Mr Hanan said the office of Crown Solicitor in Christchurch had been held continuously for 47 years in the same firm. Mr Roper is the fifth partner to be appointed. Mr Roper, aged 40, has been assisting Mr Mahon in the Crown work at Christchurch for the last four years. He took his law course at Victoria and Canterbury Universities, and after working for various law firms, joined the Crown Solicitor’s office in Christchurch in 1957. Mr Roper was an artillery officer in the New Zealand Division in the Middle East and Italy.
