Christchurch Woman’s Will
Children’s homes and aged persons’ welfare organisations are among the beneficiaries under the will of a Christchurch spinster. Barbara Shanks, who died on November 11. aged 92 years Miss Shanks’s estate has been sworn for probate at under £ 12.000 After making private bequests of £4200. Miss Shanks provided in her will that the rest of her estate after payment of costs be left to a number of city charities. The beneficiaries will be the Canterbury and West Coast centre of the Order of St. John (£200); the South Island Tuberculosis Association. northern group (£250): the New Zealand Society for ■he Protection of Women and Children. Canterbury branch r£2oo>; the Social Service Council 6f the Diocese of Christchurch for the benefi' of its work for the aged (£250); the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association for its work or the aged (£250): the Board of Management of the Methodist Church Eventide Home.
