Readiness Call To Indonesians

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 16. Indonesian leaders today called on the country to be ready for sacrifices to ensure the safety and integrity of the State in the struggle with Holland over Dutch New Guinea.

At a rally at Jogjakarta on Tuesday, President Soekarno will give the “final command" for “liberation” of the disputed territory. The Foreign Minister (Dr. Subandrio) last night called for “sacrifices” to ensure the safety and integrity of the state and nation, the British United Press reported from Djakarta. “If the Dutch go ahead with their plan of granting independence to what they intend to call the Papua state, I think we are given no other choice but to face it militarily—right there in West Irian," he said. “In this case it is the Dutch themselves who force us to do so. “For the sake of the safety and integrity of the

state and nation we are ready to offer our sacrifices,” he said. Dr. Subandrio added that the Indonesian Government was very close to making a decision as to the time and place of “liberating” West Irian. Order to Forces A senior General Staff officer, Major-General Sungkono, called on the Indonesian armed forces today to increase their vigilance and be ready to carry out President Soekarno's “final command,” the agency said. General Sungkonos appeal was contained in an order of the day to Army, Navy, Air Force and police personnel assembled in Djakarta. General Sungkono said the nation relied primarily on the armed forces for “carrying out the final command to liberate West Irian.”
