Speech From Throne
(N.Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright) DAR-ES-SALAAM. Dec. 11. The Duke of Edinburgh opened the Parliament of independent Tanganyika in Dar-es-Salaam today by reading the Speech from the Throne. The message said application had already been made for Tanganyika to join the United Nations. The Prime Minister. Mr Julius Nyerere, answering the speech, said bis country would pursue the war against poverty, ignorance and disease.
